Sarah & John, where to begin? We met this lovely couple through another one of our clients and we immediately knew we had to work with them. They originally planned for a wedding in San Diego, where they currently live, but with Covid-19 implications, moved the wedding to the groom’s childhood home in Illinois.
It was no ordinary at-home wedding to say the least. From the ceremony under a homemade arch (made with love of course…), to the decadent tabletop décor, to the surprise sweetheart table backdrop (made from their dad as a surprise gift), there was no detail that fell short of perfection.
Sarah and her ladies got all pampered at her mom’s house, while John and his friends began their day at an Airbnb. When guests began arriving at the home, there were blankets to keep guests warm, hand sanitizer for guests to feel safe, and dried flower petals to throw when the ceremony concluded. Sarah & John chose not to do a first look so the real magic happened when the music started playing and the wedding party began processing down the aisle. They had a live stream running for those guests that could not make it, and all eyes were on Sarah as she walked through the fall leaves so effortlessly placed around the yard due to a shower the night before.
During cocktail hour, we spaced out all of the highboys and heaters on the long driveway next to their home. They had individually wrapped Garrett’s popcorn if guests wanted a little snack, or to take them home for a late night treat. Guests then entered the clear top tent that was ready for a seriously fun reception. The tables had gorgeous garlands down the middle, gold charger plates, green water goblets, greenery on each assigned place setting, and acrylic table numbers for guests to find their way.
One of our favorite details of the wedding was even though Sarah & John had intricate appetizers, they kicked it back and had individually boxed Lou Malnati’s pizzas for all the guests, in addition to their infamous chopped salad & Italian beefs. There is no way any of those guests left unhappy that night!
We want to wish John & Sarah all the best across the States. Wishing we could be with you in the sunny state of California but we are so happy you traveled back home so we could be part of your special day in October.
