Congratulations to the Langham for being named the #2 hotel in USA, reported by U.S. News (click here for link)! We are always honored working at your hotel. We figured it’s fitting to share Megan and Michael’s gorgeous winter wedding at the Langham, one of our favorite weddings to date!
Megan and Mike met while they were on the water polo team at the University of Notre Dame. Go Fighting Irish! With the same interests at heart, it was easy to fall for one another. After they were dating for years, Mike proposed to Megan in Lincoln Park overlooking a skyline view of the city.
The first time I was really introduced to Megan, Mike and Megan’s parents, we planned to meet and participate in the Afternoon of Bridal Luxury near Oak Street in downtown Chicago. Must I say, it was a horrendous stormy day and every time you hopped from store to store, we had to whip out our umbrellas and run. It was this day that I knew this family was going to be a good one to know. They were such good sports and powered through that rain; even though for part of it, Mike & Dad disappeared while a huge football game was on. Wonder where they went off to 😉 Little did they all know, their wedding day was going to have very similar conditions, rain and all.
Fast forward over a year and it’s wedding day! Clouds and dark skies had nothing on Megan and Mike. They spent the morning separately with their best friends and family at the Langham Hotel. Megan and Mike shared their first look in the gorgeous lobby on the first floor, privately without their friends watching over them. Shortly after, everyone hopped in the trolley out front and headed to the Lincoln Park Conservatory for pictures. Just a warning, if you happen to take pictures there, it can get pretty humid! You cannot spend a whole afternoon there, at least in heavy wedding clothes. They all headed over to St. Michael’s in Old Town for a lovely church ceremony, with one of the longest aisles in the city!
Cocktail hour was back at the Langham. One of our favorite personal touches of the evening was their “generations of love” table. Believe it or not, and you probably won’t believe it, Megan & Mike’s parents were married on the exact same day of the year! Both couple’s parents’ anniversaries are on June 2nd, almost exactly 6 months before Megan & Mike’s big day (December 1st). The table also showcased all their grandparents and some cute photos of the happy couple as well.
Their reception room was full of sparkly linen, lush organic centerpieces, a water color cake and a beautifully plated dinner. Megan and Mike did not want a “Christmas wedding” so there was no sign of red accents, poinsettias or holiday cookies. Instead, there was a simple elegance of neutral colors throughout all of their décor. We are still swooning over the incredible attention to detail, especially with their signage!
They spent the entire night dancing, wooing over Megan’s dress change, eating donuts off of the donut wall and finishing it all off with a romantic sparkler exit outside.
