Mexico Destination Wedding

Tori & Tanner’s wedding in Playa Del Carmen was one for the books. It was a beautiful getaway in early January, when the temperatures started getting cold back home. They chose Azul Fives Resort for their special weekend, which was full of multiple restaurants, what seemed like 100 pools, a gorgeous beachfront and of course lots of fun bars to be at late night.

Wedding morning started with lots of champagne, matching pajamas, and relaxing with friends. In the afternoon, the wedding party got dressed while Tanner and Tori shared a first look on a secluded mile-long bridge in the middle of a forest. It was the perfect weather with a light breeze which helped with that Mexican sun. All guests were greeted with specialty cocktails on a rooftop while waiting for the ceremony to start. All of a sudden, the wind started picking up and the sky started turning gray. Tori and her dad walked from the top of the stairs for a wildly dreamy surprise entrance. A few sentences after the ceremony began, the clouds were at full coverage and guests started looking around. The bride whispered to the officiant to pick it up, for rain was about to come. As Tori and Tanner kissed, it started showering. Tori’s veil flew over the side of the rooftop and the staff protected them with umbrellas as they ran inside. It was a memorable finish to the ceremony, filled with laughs and many extra bottles of popped champagne.

All of the guests hung out at one of the hotel bars for cocktail hour while the storm passed. Guests were then ushered over to the reception space across the property! “Take a shot, take a seat” was a nice Mexican touch to the seating chart at the entrance. That’s one thing Chicago wouldn’t allow! Tori and Tanner’s dogs were the specialty drink inspiration. And there was a custom sketch drawing of Tori and Tanner for guests to sign in lieu of a guest book.

The night was full of surprise sparklers during the introductions and first dance, a hilarious father/daughter choreographed dance, an all-night photo booth, delicious desserts and a packed dance floor.

Congratulations once again, Tori & Tanner! We would go back to Mexico with you any day!
