Lilly & Ben started their love story back in 2012 when they met at a pregame at a mutual friend’s house while studying at the University of Michigan. While visiting Detroit, less than an hour away from U of M, Ben enlisted some local personnel to help with his proposal. To a huge surprise for Lilly, the Detroit police department pulled her over while driving. The officer gave her a letter which she thought was a residency match but seconds later, Ben pulled up behind them and got down on one knee. Talk about a rush of emotions all in just a few minutes! It was an endearing surprise that they will never forget.
They later moved to Chicago, adopted an adorable puppy named Biggie, and began planning their wedding at Revel Motor Row!
The wedding day began and ended at Revel Motor Row. The space has multiple floors and plenty of room for all bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready without running into each other. Ben and Lilly shared their first moment together in a private hallway while their friends started boarding the party-mobile downstairs. They soon joined their wedding party to take pictures around the area. A small hidden gem to take pictures is at Ping Tom Park. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but it still gives you greenery and a skyline view! So anyone getting married in South Loop or Bridgeport should look up the park in case you need picture location ideas.
The ceremony began on the terrace in the middle of Revel Motor Row. Their friend constructed the base of the chuppah and their decor team made it extra beautiful with all of the flowers. Lilly & Ben had vellum paper programs and inside of them sat a pile of confetti which were thrown in the air after the “I-Do’s”.
Cocktail hour also took place on the terrace and in the adjoining room in case guests wanted a little air conditioning, although it was quite perfect weather outside so no complaints there!
The guests were escorted into the Packard reception space where they found their names hand written on a glass window. Revel Motor Row has gorgeous tall ceilings with skylight shining through each panel. Each centerpiece had candles with gold names on them to signify special places for the bride and groom. The head table was ironically called “Packard” which is the room they ultimately celebrated their new marriage in!
Once it came time for speeches, the Best Man really knocked it out of the park when he brought a sandwich all the way from Michigan. Yes, he admitted it might be cold but it was a meaningful sandwich to Lilly & Ben’s relationship and they all took a bite after his speech. It’s moments like those that you do not ever forget!
The night was full of dancing, the horah, a confetti cake cutting (extra annunciation on more “confetti”), and a whole lot of love between two families. We miss you both, Lilly & Ben, and hope to see you soon at a familiar friend’s wedding!
