Catherine and Kris are the perfect couple to start off our REAL wedding blogs because they were our first wedding of 2018! AND their wedding was just featured on Zola, click HERE to visit! Danielle, owner of Ohana Events, went to the University of Kansas and met Catherine in the American Women’s Business Association. They both held positions in the club, therefore they got to know each other on a more personal level.
Fast forward many years, and Catherine found out Danielle started Ohana Events. They connected and Danielle was hired instantly for Catherine and Kris’s late March wedding in the city of Chicago.
Now on to the good stuff. Catherine and Kris were such a pleasure to work with. They had a strong vision in what they wanted and we were just here to make it happen without a hitch. The ladies started their morning at the Hyatt Place River North which just a few hops away from River Roast. Catherine and her seven bridesmaids had fun drinking mimosas and getting ready with each other. Catherine then had a special moment with her Father, for his first look in their hotel room. There’s something to be said about this moment. A father imagines it his entire life. Seeing his beautiful daughter grow up and find the man of her dreams is all he hopes for. We always recommend incorporating a first look if it’s feasible in the wedding timeline.
Once the ladies got dressed and grabbed their matching navy shawls, they were off to St. Alphonsus church in their trolley. It was a heated trolley of course!
After Catherine and Kris officially tied the knot, they were off taking pictures around the city with their photographers from Gold Grid Studios. We are obsessed with the bridesmaids’ mismatched dresses and navy shawls paired with the groomsmen’s’ charcoal suits and navy ties. It’s those tiny details that matter in the end.
Once it was time for cocktail hour, the happy couple headed over to River Roast to share the special day with their friends and family. Trablume did a beautiful job decorating the room in baby’s breath and other neutral color flowers.
What better way to finish off the evening with a fabulous sparkler exit! We coordinated their bridal party to line the stairs where they exited. A night we won’t forget!
