When it came time to sit little Maximilian down to talk about his upcoming third birthday party theme we discussed all of his favorite “things” at the time. As you could predict, Maximilian had a lot of ideas, none that would combine to create a useable theme. After further investigation, we realized he loves transportation! We dug deeper to see what type of transportation was his favorite: school buses, dump trucks, garbage trucks, airplanes, ambulances, etc. We did not get far because he loved them all. That means we could not use a “construction” theme, nor “emergency car” theme. That’s when we came up with the “anything on wheels”!
Blue police cars, yellow school buses, red fire trucks and purple tow trucks are the four he chose to showcase throughout the party. We started with a beverage station. “Water Tower” and Diesel Fuel (lemonade) were available for guests to enjoy.
Maximilian had his “candy loading dock” and cake station set up with all his favorite candies that matched their respective vehicle. Kids were invited to grab a candy box to fill them with whatever they wanted. Then all of their blue take home goodie bags were filled with a mini car puzzle, construction coloring book, vehicle stickers and a keychain.
There was a magic show with live animals and a “disappearing toy truck”, balloon twister and DJ to get the kids partying. After all the festivities, Maximilian opened his gifts while the parents snacked on some food.
What’s cuter than a birthday boy smashing his face into a rainbow cake filled with sprinkles? How about a birthday boy slowly eating all of the sprinkles off of the cake? That’s what we got to watch! We now know that all three year olds do not like to get dirty with cake all over their face! An epic cake-smash-fail for us. It was priceless to watch his reaction though.
Happy 3rd Birthday to little Maximilian! We can’t wait to hear his ideas for next year’s party!
