Pour the champagne, we’re so excited to share Grace & Jim’s big day at The Joinery! They started off with bubbles and lots of laughs among the ladies at Soho House in West Loop. Besides Grace’s matron of honor, she had all her other best friends relax and enjoy the morning festivities together. We love that Grace wanted only one person to stand by her side as a maid but still included her friends and requested they all wear a black dress (of their choosing!) to match, yet not feel committed to all the typical bridesmaid duties.
Grace & Jim’s vintage taste did not fall short when thinking about the details they would wear. Jim owns a vintage resale store so it’s to no surprise they wanted to be doused in vintage inspired items on their big day. Grace initially wore a lace overlay that was removed later in the evening for a fresh surprise. It was a beneficial piece to have worn because it was a tad chilly and rainy that day. But Grace & Jim were good sports and grabbed an umbrella and continued on to their first look across from Soho House.
After strolling around West Loop, Grace and Jim headed over to The Joinery to await their long anticipated ceremony. The room was full of hanging greenery and Edison bulbs, a thick garland and line of candles next to the chairs, and an a-symmetrical focal point against the back wall.
Before we knew it, their marriage was official and it was time to relax and enjoy mingling with everyone. Cocktail hour was held outside, and even though it was a bit chilly, guests were comforted with craft cocktails and warm heaters. They were also greeted by an array of past appetizers and a large cheese and charcuterie board – right up our alley!
That wasn’t the end of the feast though, the feast had just begun as guests were invited back into the transformed space where the ceremony was held. A multi-course family style meal was shared down the long guest tables. From cider braised chicken, to ruby red trout, to butternut squash ravioli, no guest was left hungry. And for the sweet tooth-type, there was a decadent display of pies and wedding cake for all to share.
What a dreamy fall night it was! Congratulations once again to Grace & Jim!
