December 11, 2019
It’s coming close to one of our favorite times of the year. When the holidays are in full session, our season slows down a bit, and we reminisce on all the good times throughout the year. Now, this time of year always brings back another memory, specifically Molly & Steven’s wedding at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook.
Their wedding took place on December 22nd, so close to Christmas! And of course, if you’re that close to the holidays, it only makes sense to add some festive flair. It’s not easy to tastefully add holiday touches to your wedding, but this couple nailed it from start to finish.
Molly got ready at her mom’s house with her bridesmaids, while Steven got ready at a local hotel. The bridesmaids walked in to green and navy plaid pashminas to wear outside because it was a bit brisk. They were lucky it was not in the 20s this time of year! Molly chose navy instead of red which is really elegant for that time of year.
The happy couple got married at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Hoffman Estates, where the bride grew up. After the ceremony, the wedding party went around town taking pictures and were happy to find some holiday lights along the way.
They headed over to the Hyatt Lodge where the party really began. The warm fireplace in the lobby had a beautiful garland across the top which made it an inviting spot to keep warm. Their seating chart was placed right next to that (Ohana Events designed that!).
In the dining room, the round tables were in navy and the long rectangle tables were in ivory. The table numbers were ornaments hanging on gold stands with the number painted in the middle. The centerpieces had pine, cedar and juniper to bring in a subtle holiday feeling.
After dinner, guests were able to go back in the foyer where there were cookies everywhere you could imagine! Molly and Steven invited their aunts to bake fresh holiday cookies if they wanted to, so they had an immense variety of cookie flavors. It was an adorable, especially with goodie bags so everyone could take home a few of their favorites!
Half way through dancing, the DJ put on their first Christmas song and the Ohana Events team went out on the dance floor with hundreds of different light up necklaces, sunglasses and fun holiday accessories. If you give an intoxicated guest something neon and glowing while dancing, they WILL be happy! Hours more of dancing, eating cookies and relaxing by the fireplace was so fun to be part of just days before Christmas. I will never forget such a tasteful holiday affair and I hope to use these ideas in the future!
