Piano Man 60th Birthday Party

One year ago, we planned a 60th surprise birthday party for Suzie at the J Parker themed “Piano Man”, Billy Joel’s 1973 album. We had so much fun putting together all the details starting from the invitation that looked like a custom record album. Magnificent Milestones combined some lyrics from the infamous Piano Man record with the logistical details of the party.

We transformed the space to look like a glammed out piano bar respectively named “Suzie’s Piano Bar”. The guests all arrived early to wait for the birthday girl to arrive. They were greeted by all the service staff wearing black Suzie’s t-shirts, passing around appetizers on custom vinyl album serving trays and piano napkins.

At the bar, there were four specialty cocktails with the names being song lyrics. The cocktails were adorned with custom Suzie’s drink stirrers.

There was lounge seating with Suzie’s sequin pillows surrounding the room and also right in the middle to have a great front-row seat for the Dueling Pianos that would begin later in the evening. We provided the Dueling Pianos custom request cards that guests were able to fill out if they wanted to hear a certain song played. At the bottom of the cards it had a few lines to leave a message for Suzie. Those cards were then put in a scrapbook to double as a guest book! There was a polaroid to accompany the request cards too.

Once the dancing began, there was a neon Suzie’s sign that shined behind the pianos and there were fun patterned rugs to outline the dancing area.

A little later in the evening, late night food and dessert became available. Besides the black icing Suzie’s cookies, we loved the customized fry holders. We purchased fry “cones” that said “This is the time…… to eat fries” which included yet another shoutout to a Piano Man song.
